The Mother Stock
Every Sun Clone clone begins its life as a cutting from one of our more than 1,000 meticulously cared-for mother plants, housed in our mother greenhouse. The mother greenhouse was designed with large agricultural practices in mind. Originally used for tree seedlings, and later transitioned into the ideal climate and controlled environment, our greenhouse is perfect for thriving healthy mother plants.
We go the extra mile to maintain the health and vitality of our mother stock. By retiring mother stock 3-4 times every year, we ensure that every cutting is taken from a vigorous, young mother plant. To further support plant health, we use OMRI-approved foliar sprays and soil drenches to protect against pests and ensure compliance with pesticide testing standards.
Additionally, we conduct regular PCR testing for hop-latent viroid to keep our mothers disease-free. This level of care guarantees that each cutting starts strong, giving you the healthiest, most resilient clones possible.
Cloning Cannabis
The cloning process begins with a carefully selected cutting from a healthy mother plant. Our experienced team of cloning specialists take pride in ensuring the highest standard of plants by ensuring that each cutting meets the highest standards for quality and vigor.
Before any cutting is taken, our team thoroughly assesses the structural quality and viability of the mother plant to ensure it is in prime condition. Once these optimal cuttings are identified, careful pruning techniques are used to ensure a clean, precise cut, which is critical for the health and future growth of the clone.
Each cutting is chosen for its strength and potential to develop into a robust plant. We evaluate factors such as stem thickness, node spacing, and leaf structure to select only the best candidates. These precise standards help ensure that every clone is capable of developing healthy roots and a resilient structure.
In line with our commitment to sustainability, we opt for rooting our clones in Jiffy Peat Pellets, which are made of sustainably-sourced peat, instead of traditional rockwool cubes. These biodegradable, eco-friendly pellets provide an ideal growing medium for our clones, supporting healthy root development while reducing our environmental impact.
Propagation For Healthy Roots
After the cuttings are taken and pelleted, they move on to our propagation area, where the magic begins. The propagation area was designed to be a consistent, climate-controlled environment, ideal for rooting cuttings. Insulated wall paneling ensures temperatures will remain stable, fluctuating not more than a few degrees, regardless of the weather conditions. Dehumidifiers and exhaust fans maintain a steady airflow, delivering fresh and clean air to the cuttings, significantly reducing the risk of mold and disease. Our LED lighting is gentle and non-harsh, perfect for these delicate early stages of development.

With this consistently optimized environment, new cuttings typically begin to develop their first roots around day 10. Maintaining stable conditions at this phase is critical, as it lays the foundation for the perfect clone, ensuring healthy, strong plants every time.

The cuttings stay in propagation for about two weeks, allowing their roots to fully establish before they move on to the next phase—transplanting.
Planting the Clone Starts
After the clones have successfully rooted, they are carefully transplanted into 3.5” pots filled with our custom blend of nutrient-rich soil. This blend is specifically formulated to support optimal growth, providing the essential nutrients young plants need to thrive. You may also notice the presence of fungal spores in our soil—this is LalGuard, a highly effective bioinsecticide we use for pest management, designed to target and protect against soil pests without harming the environment with harsh chemicals.
Our streamlined transplanting line ensures that each clone is handled with care, making the process quick and efficient without compromising quality. Each clone is labeled with the strain name and the date of transplant, ensuring traceability and attention to detail throughout its development.

Once transplanted, the clones are moved to our inventory racks, where they are carefully monitored as they await your order. On shipment day, we hand-pick each plant to guarantee that only the healthiest and strongest clones make it to your doorstep—delivering the best plants, every time.
